Western Red Cedar (WRC) is a conifer from the cypress family, native to the West Coast of North America. Its Japanese nickname, \u201cAmerican Cedar,\u201d comes from its similarity to sugi (Japanese cedar). Among Indigenous peoples, it\u2019s known as the \u201cTree of Life\u201d, and has long been used for canoes and totem poles.<\/p>\n
